Trucks banned from East Bank road during weekday rush hour

The Guyana Police Force has announced that trucks and other large vehicles would be restricted from using the East Bank Public Road during rush hour on weekday mornings and afternoons.

In a press release issued yesterday, the police said motor lorries, container trucks, tractors and trailers will not be permitted to traverse the said roadway from 7am to 9am and from 3pm to 5pm weekdays from Monday until further notice.

The restriction is to facilitate ongoing road construction and to ease congestion, the force said.

Motorists and commuters who live in East Bank Demerara communities and those who use the public road have for years complained of congestion during peak hours.
