Miss Venezuela wins 2013 Universe crown

(India Times) Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler won the coveted Miss Universe 2013 crown on Saturday night, beating 85 other contenders from around the world at a glittering ceremony held in Crocus City Hall, Moscow, Russia.

Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo of USA crowned the new beauty queen Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler.

Miss Spain Patricia Yurena Rodriguez was named runner-up, while Miss Ecuador Constanza Baez came third in the contest.

The top 5 finalists at the 62nd edition of Miss Universe beauty pageant were Miss Ecuador, Miss Brazil, Miss Venezuela, Miss Philippines and Miss Spain.

Miss India Manasi Moghe made it to the top 10 but failed to make it to the final five.

With the start of the finale, top 16 finalists were announced, followed by top contestants walking the ramp in red and black-colour swimsuit created by Yamamay Swimwear.

The swimwear round was followed by announcement of top 10 contestants, who hit the ramp in their beautiful evening gown.

Last year’s winner Olivia Culpo dazzled on the stage wearing the million dollar swimsuit made encrusted with emeralds, rubies and diamonds. The million dollar swimsuit by Yamamay has travelled from Milan to Moscow with armed guards.

The current Miss Universe title holder will also get an opportunity to wear Yamamay’s million dollar swimsuit.

The finale of the beauty pageant was hosted by Mel B (America’s Got Talent) and Thomas Roberts (MSNBC Live). The panel of eight judges are Chef Nobu, gold medalist figure skater, Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski, television personality Carol Alt, supermodel-turned-author Anne V, one of the pageant sponsors Farouk Shami, pioneering designer of U-BOAT watches Italo Fontana, iconic russian pop-star Philip Kirkorov and Aerosmith’s front man Steven Tyler.
