Several injured after two minibuses collide

Several persons were injured, some seriously when two minibuses collided on the Ruby public road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) yesterday afternoon.

Up to press time last evening ten of those injured were being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital having been transported by ambulance from the West Demerara Regional Hospital for further medical attention.

Among those transferred to the Georgetown Hospital was Euranie Tieshmaker, aged 53 of Vergenoegen, EBE. Her relatives told Stabroek News outside the Accident and Emergency Unit that they are unsure about how serious her condition is although she was conscious.

They said that the Route 32 bus that the woman was in was heading to Parika when it collided with another minibus.

The relatives said that according to what they were told five or six other persons who were in the minibus with Tieshmaker were injured in the smash up. They said that they had not been told of any fatalities.
