Two men shot dead by police at Golden Grove during stakeout

The police today said that two men were last night shot dead by ranks during a stakeout at Golden Grove.

The police say that acting on information received that a robbery had been planned to be carried out on a gold miner, the police staked out an area at Golden Grove, EBD, during last night.

A press release from the police said that at about 2230h. the police challenged two men who were approaching on foot and one of them pulled out a handgun and opened fire on the ranks. The police returned fire and fatally wounded both men.

A .38 snub-nose revolver with two live rounds and two spent shells, along with one 9mm. round and two 7.62 x 39 rounds were recovered by the police, the release said.

One of the men has been identified as Paul Bascom called ‘Shine Buck’ of Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, while his accomplice has not been identified so far, the police said.

The bodies are at the Lyken Funeral Parlour.
