Street dweller remanded on ganja trafficking charge

Gordon Allen, who said he was a deportee and lives on the streets, was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged with narcotics possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Allen, 48, was accused of having 17 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose for trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge when he was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

The charge, read by Magistrate Ann McLennan, stated that on December 12, at Orange Walk and Regent Street, Bourda, Allen allegedly had 17 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

When given a chance to speak, Allen said that he had been deported from Canada and currently lives on the streets.

Magistrate McLennan remanded him to prison until January 6, when the case will be called at Court One.
