Jamaican Tessanne Chin is The Voice

(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tessanne Chin is the winner of NBC’s The Voice season five.

Tessanne, who has held the attention of the coaches and the voting public from the start of the competition, will receive US$100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music for her efforts.
essanne started out weeks ago turning the chairs of all four coaches and has, week after spectacular week, captivated the audience with her voice.

On her final performance Monday night, Tessanne delivered a passionate rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I have Nothing’, leaving coach Adam Levine singing praises.

From the very beginning all four judges saw Tessanne’s potential when she auditioned with Pink’s ‘Try’; she eventually chose Maroon 5’s front-man Levine as coach.

“’It would have been the mistake of a lifetime to not turn around for you. You have something crazy special and I want it bad,” Levine commented at the audition.

“You could easily win The Voice this year; I don’t have a doubt in my mind. Not a doubt,” he added.

Fellow contestants Jacqui Lee from Team Christina and Will Champlin, from Team Adam placed second and third respectively.

During the results show Tuesday night, Tessanne delivered a scintillating performance with her idol, the legendary Celine Dion. The duo did a well received ‘Love can move Mountains’, which was released by Dion in 1992.

This is Levine’s second win on The Voice, taking top spot with Javier Colon in season one of the popular singing competition.
