Air Services Limited (ASL) yesterday launched its aerial tours of Georgetown (Christmas special) at its Pilot School, located at the Ogle International Airport.
The Christmas special version of the tour, that is expected to last for 10 minutes,
will be conducted daily from today, between 8 am to sunset (5 pm). Tours will depart from Ogle using either the Bell 206 long-range helicopter or the Cessna 172 aircraft.
ASL said it is offering this “exciting tour” at a “Christmas special price” of $9,000 per person in the helicopter, and $4,000 per person in the aircraft.
The route for the tour is from Ogle Airport straight to the coastline, then left following the seawall past the Marriott Hotel now under construction.
The tour then turns south, taking in the views along the Demerara River from the city to the Harbour Bridge. One final left turn takes it past the Princess Hotel and Providence Stadium and back to Ogle Airport. Media personnel had the opportunity to experience the tour yesterday.
As ASL General Manager Annette Arjoon-Martins said, “The aerial view is truly special. You can see Georgetown from a new perspective. It also shows the intricate layout of the various parts of the city stretching from the Demerara River to Sheriff Street.”
ASL Flight Operations Manager Brittney Ally, who has been on test trips of the tour, said, “It’s a great experience.
The views are so amazing; it gives you a whole new feeling about your country.” She advised those choosing the tour to walk with a camera.
According to Martins, though ASL is now running a Christmas special, after the culmination of the promotion in the second week of January, the tour will be available year round.
The new prices will be announced once the Christmas special has ended, Martins said.
