Ex-husband charged with murdering Tuschen woman

Mohammed Iqbal, 42, who stands accused of stabbing his former spouse, Sookdai (Lalita) Basdeo, 37, to death on December 23, was arraigned and remanded to prison at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court today.

Iqbal, who resides at 4220 Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, made his first court appearance before Magistrate Chandra Sohan. He was not required to plead. He was represented by attorney-at-law Pamela De Santos.  Iqbal’s case will be heard again on January 31, 2014.
