New elevator to serve as exit for Gravity Nightclub

With the installation of an elevator to combat overcrowding of its exit, management of the Gravity Nightclub has assured that they are ready to deal with evacuation emergencies.

Navin Singh, Manager of the establishment, which is located on the sixth floor of the United Centre Mall, Camp and Regent streets,  informed that an elevator was installed a few weeks ago and will be used as an exit for  the Nightclub.

He said that patrons will disembark the elevator from the Regent Street end and that Camp Street will be used as an entrance point.

In August of this year patrons had bemoaned the long waiting lines to exit the facility and questioned the nightclub’s readiness should there be an emergency.

A crowd had thronged the lone elevator being used as both entrance and exit and many voiced fears about what would happen in the event of an emergency requiring rapid evacuation.

The management had promised that another elevator would be installed to ease the long wait and congestion at the exit of the nightspot.

Observers however point out that if there is a fire, elevators are not to be used and there would still be an issue as it relates to a speedy evacuation of those at the top of the building.
