Cocaine found on Miami-bound CAL jet

(Trinidad Express) A quantity of cocaine was found aboard a Caribbean Airlines (CAL) jet bound for Miami, Florida, yesterday morning.

The airline would not say what was the quantum of the cocaine, but CAL spokesman Clint Williams confirmed it was discovered among a crate of pepper cherries.

The airline said the cocaine was found during routine checks of cargo after it had been loaded aboard Flight BW480, a Boeing 737.

The items have since been turned over to the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau (OCNFB), who are continuing investigations.

Attempts to speak to officers of the OCNFB were futile.

The name and address of the person to whom the package was consigned had not been disclosed, but a man was being sought by the authorities.
