(Jamaica Gleaner) The Caribbean Court of Justice has announced that it will hand down judgement in the Shanique Myrie Case against the Barbados government on October 4 in Trinidad and Tobago.
It says the hearing will be conducted by video conference from Trinidad and Tobago.
Myrie claims she was discriminated against because of her nationality when she arrived in Barbados on March 14, 2011.
The 25-year-old Jamaican also claims she was subjected to a body-cavity search in unsanitary and demeaning conditions before being detained and deported to Jamaica the next day.
She wants the CCJ to determine the minimum standard of treatment for CARICOM citizens moving within the region under the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas.
The CCJ held sittings on the matter in Jamaica in March and then in Trinidad and Tobago a month later.
