(De Ware Tijd) PARAMARIBO — Scantily clothed people, dancing to the tunes of kabula music and living sexual pleasures, seems to be common at the illegal swimming resort Bigi Pan near the village of Wi Santi in the District of Para.
The police from the Zanderij resort put an end to the indecent partying last Saturday. Close to 100 people were ordered from the site which was then closed on District Commissioner Jerry Miranda’s order until further notice. ‘Half naked women were running around and wild orgy-like sex escapade were common,’ Sherwin Piqué coordinator restructuring holiday resorts, explains. The village chief of Wit Santi has been exploiting the disused sand quarry for a year now as holiday resort. He had been ordered to take a few measures, but he kept ignoring it. With the new rules out the DC’s office all resort managers have to obtain permission from the DC before becoming operational. This way the authorities can make better inspections.
The Wit Santi resort lacks sanitation, emergency facilities and life guards and the stagnant water is a serious threat to health care. Piqué confirms tests by the Bureau for Public Health but the results are not in yet. Chief Patrick Mande had to report of the DC’s office yesterday. He promised he will take the necessary measures because the revenues are a source of income for village. Villagers also drink the water. .
