Head of Jamaica elections body quits over party award

(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dr Herbert Thompson Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) has resigned with immediate effect.
Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen, accepted Dr Thompson’s resignation today the Jamaica Observer has learned.

According to Dr Thompson the controversy surrounding his receipt of the People’s National Party (PNP) Award, on behalf of the ECJ, left him no option but to resign.
