Coast Guard makes north coast drug haul

(Trinidad Express) Coast Guard officers last Friday searched a fishing boat near the north coast island of Saut d-Eau and found marijuana with an estimated street value of $280,000.

The police issued a statement yesterday giving details on the incident.

The Coast Guard made the interception at around 5.20 pm and detained two men, one from Toco Main Road, Balandra, and the other of Morne Cabrite Trace, Cumana.

Officers allegedly found a red net bag containing 24 packets together weighing 13.94 kilogrammes.

The vessel, the occupants and drugs were conveyed to Staubles Bay, and later handed over to officers of the Organised Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau. The suspects are expected to appear in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, charged with marijuana trafficking.
