GRA sets up parking lots for Camp St customers

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has established secure parking for taxpayers at two sites in proximity to its new Camp Street headquarters for persons visiting to conduct business.

In a press release, the GRA said it took this step after taxpayers complained that they were forced to leave their vehicles unattended and parked at extensive distances away from the agency. The public was particularly offended as the agency had established a parking lot nearby for its staff.

Parking facilities were established in Waterloo Street, bordering Parade Ground and along the avenues from Quamina Street to New Market Street. Together, these two sites will provide parking for a total of 244 vehicles, the GRA said.

Further, to ensure that taxpayers’ vehicles are properly secured, two guard huts were built on the site, with security guards to monitor the facilities round the clock.

The GRA said establishing the parking lot is twofold; it will ensure taxpayers vehicles are not vandalised and help to alleviate traffic congestion on Camp Street.
