US Embassy announces changes to visa application process

The US Embassy in Georgetown has announced changes to the non-immigrant visa application and appointment process, effective from yesterday.

In a press release, the Embassy said the firm Computer Services Corporation (CSC) has been contracted by the United States Department of State to provide some visa applicant services, including scheduling of appointments.

As a result, it said visa applicants must now pay their non-immigrant visa application fees in Guyana dollars at any branch of the Bank of Baroda before an interview appointment can be scheduled through CSC, either online or by telephone.  Applicants or their family members in the United States with questions about the new process are advised to call CSC’s call centre at the following US number: (703) 439-2359.  The call centre can also be reached through Skype using usvisaguyana.

Applicants are advised that details on how to apply for a non-immigrant visa to the United States can be found on the new information and appointment website: http://usvisa-info.com/ or by calling (592) 225-8732.  An online visa application must be completed at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/.  The Embassy’s non-immigrant visa “How to apply” web page will also have a link to the appointment website.

The Embassy noted that the telephone information service will be open for extended business hours from 7am to 9pm local time, Monday through Friday, for the first 60 days. Thereafter, the call centre will operate from 7am to 7pm.
