APNU mourns the passing of Bisnauth and Persaud

Opposition group APNU is mourning the passing of former Education Minister Dr Dale Bisnauth and Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud.

Dr Bisnauth, 75, was a pastor of the Presbyterian Church, Secretary of the Caribbean Conference of Churches and Chairman of the Board of Industrial Training, the group said in a press release. He had previously served in the PPP/C administration as Education and Labour and Human Services and Social Security minister.

APNU also remembered Pandit Persaud, 77, as the long-serving head of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha and a member of the Central Committee of the PPP. He served in the PPP/C administration as Minister of Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs and in the National Assembly over a period 41 years in several capacities, including Leader of the House, Chief Whip, chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and Chairman of the Special Select Committee on the Reform of the Constitution.

APNU extended condolences to the  relatives and friends of the deceased and the leadership of the PPP/C.
