Man in fracas over minibus music died of cardiac arrest – post mortem

A Post Mortem Examination was today performed on the body of Basdeo Mangra of North Vryheid’s Lust, ECD, by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, who gave the cause of death as cardiac arrest, police said today.

On Monday April 29, 2013, Mangra and his wife were travelling in a route 44 mini-bus during which he had an altercation with the conductor over the playing of loud music.
He subsequently complained of feeling unwell and was taken to the GPHC where he was pronounced DOA.
The conductor and the driver of the route 44 mini-bus, who were in police custody, have since been released, police said.
The manner of Mangra’s death has evoked public outrage and calls for action against loud music in buses.
