Sophia man surrenders after firing at police – Eve Leary

Police say that at about 1425h yesterday, as police ranks approached a group of men who were acting suspiciously at Plum Park, Sophia, one of them pulled out a firearm and discharged rounds in the direction of the ranks. The police returned fire and the man threw away the firearm and surrendered. No one was injured.

Police said that the unlicensed .38 special revolver with two spent shells were recovered by the police and the man along with three other men who were with him have been arrested.

They are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
