The Halito Hotel and Residence is opening its doors today at the site of the former Cara Suites on Middle Street.
According to a press release, Halito, a boutique hotel, will offer a selection of vintage European, intertwined with Caribbean style luxury, rooms and suites along with its in-house Bistro restaurant and bar. “Halito boasts of its intimate guest experience and personalised service second to none; a keen feature with boutique styled hotels,” the release from the hotel said.
A separate statement from Cara Investments (Guyana) Ltd yesterday announced the end of the company’s 19-year relationship with Cara Suites and said that it will be concentrating on its core properties of Cara Lodge in Guyana and those in Trinidad and Tobago. The company said it is also pursuing its on-going restructuring and expansion plans both here and in Trinidad “with new opportunities on the horizon”.
Cara Investments said that the decision has also allowed the new owners the opportunity to take the property in a new direction that “encompasses a traditional hotel combined with long term residence facilities with a European and Caribbean flair.”
Halito said it aims to preserve the same impeccable service offered under the Cara Suites brand for over 19 years, under the management of Ronald Van Dijk, a native of Holland. Van Dijk has been in the hotel industry for over a decade and has over two decades of experience in hospitality services, managing his own Dutch beach resort hotel/restaurant, a food and beverage distribution company and a 375 fleet car rental service. Additionally, he has managed the worldwide film distribution company of American Films for prestigious companies such as Paramount, Universal Studios, Viacom, United Pictures and more.
Halito features custom-made decor of modern design and vintage French lines. Its 16 “lavishly furnished rooms” comprise studio, standard and Halito family rooms with executive and presidential suites. These uniquely personalised boutique rooms all boast a work space, free Wi-Fi, 32’ flat screen television, an equipped mini bar and kitchenette, bathroom amenities, hairdryer, telephone and other services.
In addition, the Business Centre provides guests with free usage of a computer and with all-inclusive internet services.
Rooms are all 100% smoke free and guests can be assured of their safety since there is 24 hour in-house and outdoor security and all rooms are serviced with an in-room safe.
