Suspected bandit shot in groin during attempted stick-up

A suspected bandit was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) last evening after he was shot to the groin during an attempted robbery at Agricola, on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD).
Police identified the man as 34-year-old Alladin Adonis, of Grove Housing Scheme, EDB.

In a release, police said he and another man reportedly confronted a businessman, who is a licensed firearm holder, around 19.15 hrs yesterday. Refusing to submit to the robbery, the businessman, said to be a former police officer, reportedly opened fire on his assailants, hitting Adonis in his groin. His alleged accomplice, however, managed to escape unscathed.

Adonis was subsequently taken to the GPH in handcuffs and was admitted. Up to late last evening, he remained under guard by ranks of the Guyana Police Force.
