Stabbed man released too soon, say relatives

Relatives of a man who was stabbed on Thursday by an unknown assailant are concerned that he was released from hospital prematurely.

Jamal Sherlund Edmondson, 20, of Cooper Street, Albouystown was on Friday released from the Georgetown Public Hospital following a stabbing incident at his home on Thursday.

According to a relative, who declined to give her name, the pain Edmondson was experiencing while in the hospital was excruciating. She was concerned that he had been prematurely released since he hadn’t fully recovered.

Edmondson sustained two stab wounds, one to the back and the other to the lower left rib, according to the relative.

Stabroek News was also told that the attacker broke into Edmondson’s home and stabbed him before escaping on foot. A motive for the attack has not yet been established.

The relative who said she was too distraught over the situation declined to hazard a guess as to the motive.

The assailant is still at large according to family members.
