An aunt said that Harvey and the rest of his family were all at a wake in Rasville when he received a strange phone call. “Another aunt husband died and he [Harvey] was there and then he got this strange phone call and say he coming back… That was after 11. After he left, not even a good five minutes pass and we get this phone call that Max just get shoot. The police already get the suspect,” she said.

Harvey’s girlfriend, Shawna, said that she last saw him earlier that night. “He left to go to a wake and then he called and told me he coming home,” she said.

According to the woman, Harvey and another man had an altercation several weeks ago and this might have been the person who wanted to harm him. “He and some boy that he used to play cricket with had an altercation and he damage Rayburn face. He was supposed to leave the country today (yesterday). He probably say he gon do whatever and flee the country,” she suggested.

When contacted, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said that no one has been held and that from information received the identity of the shooter is unknown.

Persaud said that Harvey, who he described as a “career criminal,” had a previous case in the High Court and he was freed on that matter.

The Crime Chief also said that Harvey was a suspect in the murder of Police Corporal Romain Cleto and that he was charged, but the charges were later discharged. Cleto was gunned down on April 27 along the Avenue of the Republic.

In 2012, Harvey was freed in the High Court by Justice Franklyn Holder after being accused of the murder of Samantha Belle, which was committed on March 18, 2006. He was freed after a retrial of the case, due mainly to inconsistencies in a witness’s statement. Harvey was accused of gunning down the young woman in the vicinity of the St Sidwell’s School on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, while robbing her of her motorcycle.
