Venezuelan airline makes inaugural flight to Guyana today

Venezuelan airline CONVIASA will make its inaugural flight to Guyana today, marking the commencement of a weekly service.

This is according to a media advisory from the Ministry of Public Works yesterday.

It said that today’s non-commercial inaugural flight to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, marks the launch of the Venezuelan airline’s weekly commercial charter flights from Puerto Ordaz to Georgetown.

It was agreed at that meeting that the CONVIASA Airline will commence two weekly flights by mid-November, 2013 between Guyana and Venezuela with a connection between Puerto Ordaz and Caracas,” the advisory said.

Minister of Public Works Robeson Benn and President of CONVIASA Luis Gustavo Graterol Caraballo, are to deliver remarks at the launch of the service.

On the second day of the talks on August 31 this year, President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro visited Guyana and held bilateral talks with President Donald Ramotar.
