Newly appointed teachers not paid after five months

Dear Editor,

I must bring the attention of the Ministry of Education and the public to the problem of newly appointed teachers not being paid for five months. These teachers worked devotedly, by imparting knowledge to the nation‘s children and finishing all the school records, etc. At the end of the Christmas term they were told they would not be paid for the Christmas holiday.

Newly appointed teachers were forced to spend their Christmas holiday with their families in distress with no finance. The Christmas season is over. After making several visits and phone calls to the Region Four office, newly appointed teachers were told that their salaries for the past five months are not ready.

How will these teachers approach the New Year without their salaries?

I am asking the Ministry of Education to kindly attend to this matter.

Yours faithfully,
