GDF did not reject anyone by the name of Kishan Ganesh for the officers’ course

Dear Editor,

The Guyana Defence Force notes the publication of a letter in the February 20 edition of Kaieteur News, purportedly written by one Kishan Ganesh who claims to have been rejected for admission to the Force’s Standard Officers’ Course (‘The Commodore’s mockery of Jagan’s education ideals’).

The GDF wishes to advise that applicants who fit our stated criteria are shortlisted and a reliable database created. Checks with this database have revealed that none of the applications received bore the name “Kishan Ganesh.” However, despite our calls for written applications, many interested persons appear at our Headquarters and their queries are addressed. Some present documentation while others verbalise their qualifications as a means of trying to determine their eligibility; it is unclear whether Mr Ganesh was part of this informal approach.

Neither the Chief of Staff, nor any officer authorised to sign for the Chief of Staff has dispatched any letter of rejection to any of the candidates who did not meet our requirements.

Yours faithfully,
Major Lorraine Foster
Staff Officer One General Five (ag)
