New cars have lower levels of emissions than older models

Dear Editor,

As the emphasis is on environmental safety it is vital to point out that new model vehicles give off lower carbon emissions, mainly because the exhaust is filtered, in contrast to the older models, which contribute to greater pollution and build-up of greenhouse gases. The new model vehicles are more durable, even though they are costlier than the older varieties. However, if government should reduce the import duties to make the new model cars affordable to buyers, more such vehicles would be used, thereby contributing to environmental wholesomeness and safety both locally and globally.

Yours faithfully,
George Carrington
