The PPP has lost a dedicated comrade

Dear Editor,

I wish to express condolences to the wife, children and relatives of the late Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud who passed away a few days ago.

‘Cde Reep’, as he was fondly referred to by those in the PPP who knew him, will be remembered for his contribution to the anti-dictatorial struggle and for a free and democratic Guyana. He served as a Member of Parliament and as a Minister in the PPP/C administration for quite a number of years in addition to fulfilling his role as the President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, a position he held until his passing. He was also an Advisor to President Donald Ramotar at the time of his death, an indication of the trust and confidence the PPP/C administration placed in him.

The PPP has lost a dedicated comrade who despite his failing health continued to play an active part in the work of the party as a member of the Central and Executive Committees of the party.

May his soul rest in peace!

Yours faithfully,
Hydar Ally
