Bar above Anna Catherina a safety hazard

Dear Editor,

Please allow me to highlight a situation that has recently affected the residents of Anna Catherina, West Coast, Demerara. The Ministry of Public Works has initiated the repair and resurfacing of two main roads running north of Anna Catherina. They have erected two protective bars in an attempt to protect the road from heavy-duty vehicles. However, the bar has turned out to be a big hindrance to safety and commercial activities. Bakewell’s, Humphrey’s and Banks delivery trucks cannot pass this barrier. The biggest hazard is if there is a fire and the fire truck can’t access the residents in a timely manner. I am asking whoever is responsible for this barrier to rethink the consequences and remove or readjust them.  20131002letterpic
