The National Front Alliance (NFA), strongly condemns the act of aggression perpetrated by the navy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela against the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The interception of the research vessel MV Teknik Perdana in Guyana’s waters and the act of escorting it into Venezuela’s waters is totally intolerable and could have catastrophic consequences for neighbourly relations.
That this action follows closely on the arrival of armed soldiers from that country on our territory demands that all Guyanese give voice to their indignation.
The NFA supports the call of the leader of the APNU, Brigadier General David Granger for a permanent borders commission that will effectively address issues such as these.
The NFA urges a national response to Venezuela’s latest infringement on our territory. Matters of national sovereignty cannot be left to any one political faction or political party
