Vehicles do not observe the flashing amber light

Dear Editor,

With the mad rush at Xmas time we are asked to drive and use the road with caution, but I am unsure if the flashing amber light at intersections can work.

First let me say that I believe that we are so indisciplined in driving that the flashing amber light will not work especially where there is an intersection like Regent and Cummings Streets. Last Monday it was absolute chaos at that corner as we were all caught up in the middle. Minibuses, cars and motor-cycles were positioned at different angles seeking a path out and begging for some discretion.

We do not obey the amber light at the stop signs, far less the flashing one. It is workable when the police are used to complement the traffic lights to move the flow, especially in the one-way streets.

Let strive to use the road with care.

 Yours faithfully,
