Darren Bravo leads T/dad to warm-up win over Windwards

PORT- OF- SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – West Indies batsman Darren Bravo hit an enterprising half century as Trinidad and Tobago defeated the Windward Islands by five wickets in their practice Caribbean T20 Tournament game at the University of Trinidad and Tobago grounds here on Thursday night.

Bravo hit 64  with three fours and four sixes from 47 deliveries while captain Danesh Ramdin scored 42 from 38 balls, with one four and two sixes, as the home team successfully chased the Windwards Islands total of 143 for 7, with one ball to spare.

Earlier, Miles Bascombe 46, and West Indies opener Johnson Charles 32, had helped the Windwards to their total.

Meantime, all-rounder Rayad Emrit celebrated his late selection on the Trinidad and Tobago squad with  a three wicket haul after bowling three overs and conceding  29 runs.

Emrit replaced ace strike bowler Ravi Rampaul who was forced to pull out of the tournament thursday after the latest MRI scan revealed a problem with the patella in his right knee.

Emrit was supported by pacer Shannon Gabriel who bagged 2 for 10 from three overs.

The Trinidadians lost early wickets, including that of West Indies all rounder Dwayne Bravo for a two ball duck, before their test players Bravo and Ramdeen guided them to victory.

Gary Mathurn took two for 23 from four overs while Liam Sebastien bagged 2 for 30.

Trinidad and Tobago, the defending champions, face last year’s losing finalists Jamaica at ueen’s Park Oval when the Caribbean T20 starts tomorrow.
