GCC, Everest score outright wins

Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and Everest Cricket Club (ECC) earned outright victories when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) in conjunction with Noble House Seafoods second division two-day cricket competition resumed last weekend.

In the other completed match, the Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) drew with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) at the Camp Ayanganna ground.

In the lone Zone A match at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground, Everest Cricket Club thrashed Ace Warriors by an innings and 79 runs.

The nine-man Ace Warriors team batted first and posted 50-8 (innings closed) in 14.4 overs. Chris Persaud top scored with 25 an innings that contained five fours. Four batsmen failed to trouble the scorers. Bowling for Everest, Javed Rasheed had 2 for 2, Garfield DeRoach 2 for 23 and Raphael Singh 1 for 2.

Everest declared their first innings on 234-6 with Mohan Ramdeen falling nine runs short of a brisk century. His 91 contained 15 fours and one six and he received support from Riyyad Sattaur who made 76 with 14 fours before he was run out. The pair featured in a 130-run, fifth-wicket partnership. Arthur Mason collected 5 for 73 for Ace Warriors, who required 184 runs to make Everest bat a second time but ended on 105-8 innings closed despite a  half century opening stand.
