Skipper Permaul confident of success

The Guyana team for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Super50 competition departed Guyana yesterday confident of success.
The members of the team had assembled at the Windjammer Hotel, Kitty where they met with president and secretary of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Drubahadur and Anand Sanasie respectively both of whom wished the team success.

The tournament bowls off tomorrow with a triple header with Guyana opposing the Leeward Islands at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, Antigua, Barbados playing Jamaica at Bridgetown, Barbados and the Windward Islands opposing the Combined Campuses and Colleges team at Gros Islet, St Lucia. Guyana Captain Veerasammy Permaul was yesterday upbeat about Guyana’s chances stating that team spirit was high heading into the Regional First Class season.

Permaul said that he was confident that Guyana would take their success in the Caribbean T20 one step further by winning the Super50 competition.
Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Keon Joseph and Amir Khan, members of the Four-Day squad did not leave with the other players yesterday but will depart tomorrow ahead of the team’s opening four-day game which begins on Saturday against the Leeward Islands at the same venue.
