CARIFTA Games trials set for this weekend

The first official track and field competition for the athletics season of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) the CARIFTA Games trials is scheduled for this weekend at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground, Camp Ayanganna instead of the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.

Coach of the GDF track and field club Robert Chisholm confirmed yesterday that the trials will be held at the ground and stated that the ground has already been prepared.

President of GDF athletics club, Colonel Paul Arthur disclosed that all preparation for the trials will be completed by Friday adding that the number of entries will determine the length of the trials.

“I will not be able to say presently if the trials will be kept for two days since that will vary on the amount of athletes that will compete,” Arthur told Stabroek Sports.

The previous competition held at the GDF ground was the Inter-Services Athletics Championship which was held last October.
