World renowned professional squash star Nicolette Fernandes was humbled and elated about being named senior sportswoman of the year by the National Sports commissions for an unprecedented seventh time this year.
The 29-year old Fernandes was adjudged the winner of the award once again this year while acclaimed West Indies batman Shivnarine Chanderpaul won the sportsman of the year award for the sixth time. No other athlete has won the award so many times and as a matter of fact, apart from Fernandes and Chanderpaul, former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd is next among those with the most wins of the national sports award,
