South Ruimveldt, Tucville Secondary reach semi-finals

South Ruimveldt Secondary on Sunday defeated Richard Ishmael secondary School 3-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Milo U20 schools football tournament when quarter-final action continued at the Ministry of Education Ground Carifesta, Avenue.

South Ruimveldt took a 1-0 lead when Jamain Beckles scored in the 20th minute capitalizing on a rebound from a resulting Keith Caines volley which came crashing off the upright.

South Ruimveldt added a second goal in the 28th minute with Caines found himself unchallenged in the box and converted from a well taken corner kick.

Richard Ishmael scored just before half time as Ray Stanton latched onto a beautifully played through ball from Kristoff Watts and coolly placed the ball past the on rushing South Ruimveldt custodian. Martin Adams put the issue beyond doubt with a 70th minute strike.

In the other game, Tucville Secondary were made to work by a game Bishops’ High school in their quarterfinal excursion before getting the better of the Carmichael Street outfit 4-2 to book their semi final spot.

Ryan Blackman scored tow goals in the 52nd and 107th minutes while Dorwin Filter scored in the 72nd and 102 minutes for the winners.

Tucville had to come from behind twice as inspirational captain and midfield dynamo Shamal Lewis found the back of the net on two occasions in the 40th and 70th minutes respectively.

Semi-final action commences tomorrow from 4pm.  St. George’s Secondary will take on Carmel Secondary in the opening encounter while in the feature match Tucville Secondary will tackle South Ruimveldt from 6pm.
