Transport, GNIC win in Brainstreet U15 cricket

Transport Sports Club and GNIC recorded victories on Tuesday as the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Brainstreet Under-15 cricket tournament continued its matches at the different cricket grounds.

Playing at the Demerara Cricket Club ground in Queenstown, Transport, who opted to field first, dismissed DCC B for 43 in 17.4 overs.

Thirteen-year-old Colin Barlow grabbed six wickets for 10 runs. He was supported by Joel Spooner who grabbed 3 for 18.

Marvin Carter (21) was the top scorer for DCC (B).

Chasing 43 for victory, Transport reached the victory target in 10.5 overs losing two wickets in the process. Wayward bowling yielded 23 extras while Akeal Hyles was unbeaten on 11 as TSC recorded their first win of the competition.

Over at the GNIC ground, the home team  defeated Queen’s College by 10 wickets.

Batting first QC were bowled out for 83 runs in 11.3 overs with extras contributing 28 of the runs.

Hasseet Hamid was the top scorer with (19) while Gopaul Ramgobin 2 for 11 was supported by Andrew Clifford who took 2 for 9.

GNIC, in reply, eased to 88 without loss in 11.3 overs. Bhaskar Yadram stroked a brilliant 60 not out and found support from his opening partner Joshua Persaud who was unbeaten on 18.
