Assanah’s hat trick sinks St Stanislaus

Hikers’ compliments of a Jamal Assanah hat trick defeated Saints 6-2 as the John Fernandes Insurance Service (JFIS) second division hockey league continued at the Saints Recreational ground Carifesta Avenue yesterday.
Opening the scoring in the tenth minute, Assanah would add to his tally in the fifteen and twenty first minutes to give Hikers the lead as Saints briefly threatened through goals from Hilton Chester and Yonnick Peters in the twelfth and thirteenth minutes respectively.

Further goals by Shameer Bhagwandin, Shaquille Assanah and O’Reilly Branford in the twenty eight, thirty third and seventieth minutes correspondingly completed the rout of the Saints unit.
In the opening encounter, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) defeated Old Fort by four goals to two through braces from Eric Hing in the tenth and sixty eight minutes and Daniel Cooper in the fifty eight and sixty first minutes respectively.
On target in a losing effort were Mark Fraser and John Abrams in the forty ninth and fifty first minutes respectively.
