GAPF hands over second five year plan to Sports Minister

The association of the year, the Guyana Amateur Power lifting Federation (GAPF) says it has received favourable response from Minister of Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony to their $40M, five-year plan proposed to him on Thursday.

According to a release, top officials from the GAPF met with Dr. Anthony at his Main Street office last week and discussed the future of the sport. They also handed over their second five-year plan for the period 2013 to 2017 which now supersedes the previous plan from 2008 to 2012 along with audited statements of accounts for last year.

The minister, the release stated, responded pleasantly to the several proposals put forward by the GAPF executives, most importantly, the realization of a fully equipped facility construction of which is expected to commence by August this year.

The carefully laid out five-year strategic plan with a projected budget of approximately $40M, aims to modernize the sport by 2017 through major objectives. They include the expansion of the federation, growth of the sport and marketing and outreach to achieve excellence at the international level by its lifters and officials.
