Primary schools battling it out in windball

Monar Educational Institute, 62-2, defeated Thomas Moore Primary, 52-4, by 10 runs as the MCYS, NSC and AL Sport & Tour Promotions 16th Annual End of School Year Primary Schools Windball Cricket Championships continued at the National Park, Georgetown.

Leading the batting effort for Monar was Ashmead Nedd and Nicholas Ganesh who scored 32 and 18 runs respectively. Melroy Mason top scored for Thomas Moore with 15 runs and Redeemer Primary, 49-3, edged St. Pius Primary, 47-3, by two runs.

North Georgetown Primary 47-4 defeated St. Margaret’s Primary, 42-8, by five runs while defending champions St. Agnes, 27-5, and West Ruimveldt Primary, 27-4, played to a draw.

In the Region Five zone at the No. 71 Village ground, No. 59 Primary, 58-4, defeated Corriverton Primary, 43-3, by 15 runs. Ishwar deo Malley top scored for No. 56 with 33 runs. Ralph Seemarine led Corriverton with 31 runs.

Massiah Primary, 42-0, successfully chased No. 59 Primary’s total of 40-6 to win by 10 wickets. Deondray McKenzie top scored with 25 runs for Massiah Primary. Krishana Jhaman led No. 59 with 22 runs.

Leeds Primary successfully defended their total of 44-3 to defeat New Market Primary, 30-7, by 14 runs. Andy Rohoman top scored with 20 runs for Leeds.

In the female division, New Market Primary successfully defended their total of 32-4 to defeat Massiah Primary, 23-5, by nine runs. Abigail Henry top scored with 11 runs for New Market.    Terisha Lakeram contributed 10 runs for Massiah.
Corriverton Primary was successful in the defence of their total of 28-2 as they beat No. 59 Primary, 26-2, by two runs. Anastacia Pitman top scored for Corriverton with 11 runs.
