Rose Hall club hosting Independence 5km road race

The Rose Hall Town Athletic Club will stage a day of sprint events and a 5km road race on May 27 to commemorate Guyana’s 47th Independence anniversary.

According to a press release, coordinator of the event, Godwyn Allicock said the athletes will vie for over $150,000 in cash and prizes.

The 5km race will start outside the Sparkle Disco from 7.30am and will conclude at the Rose Hall Town Ground where the track events including the 100m, 200m 400m and 4x100m for the following age groups: U16, U18, U20, U25 and Over 25 will be held.

The events are sponsored by Imran, Sons and Daughters, Fiesta Guinness Bar, Bobby’s and Son, Banks DIH and the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club.

The activities were initially scheduled to be held on May 1 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
