CARDIFF, Wales, CMC – West Indies have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their rain affected Group B match against South Africa in the Champions Trophy here on Friday.
The fine was imposed after Dwayne Bravo’s side was ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the game reduced to 31 overs because of rain.
According to the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time with the captain fined double that amount.
As such, Bravo was fined 20 per cent of his match fee while his team mates received 10 per cent fines.
West Indies were eliminated after the match ended in a tie on the Duckworth Lewis method allowing South Africa to advance on a better net run rate.
