The project began on March 14 and contractors are now relishing the fact that they were able to complete the work four hours before the scheduled time yesterday
.
When Stabroek Sport visited the CASH yesterday, contractors were present and workers were adding the final “polish” to the freshly painted, lacquered and outlined greenheart structure.

Boasting precision boundary markings and lines belonging to the various sporting disciplines, the centre of the floor proudly flaunts a logo belonging to the National Sports Commission (NSC). In an invited comment, Director of D&S Construction, David Mohammad spoke to this newspaper about his thoughts and views about the new floor. “We are very happy to have completed this task by noon (yesterday). We now hope that upon reopening of the Sports Hall that persons will come out and enjoy the new professional look and design of the floor,” he added.

Mohammad said that the NSC logo, which is now centered in the middle of the floor, was done free of cost as a gift to the NSC, stating that the new look brings “new life” to the entire building.

“I would also like to say a special thanks to members of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) who were very receptive towards our suggestions and worked along with our ideas,” he  concluded. Sports such as basketball, hockey, badminton, volleyball and table tennis among others, will soon resume their activities at Guyana’s premier home of indoor sports.

All eyes will now be set on the official opening which is scheduled to be announced later.
