Permaul to captain team against Pakistanis

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and its panel of Senior Selectors yesterday released a 14-man warm-up squad led by left arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul to take on Pakistan on July 11 at the iconic Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground, Bourda.

place at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence on Sunday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 16.

Players selected include the in-form trio of Leon Johnson, Assad Fudadin and Narsingh Deonarine, who showed form in the recently concluded Sri Lanka A series tour in the Caribbean having stroked big centuries. They will now seek to take their hunger and batting form into the warm-up game. Apart from the aforementioned, the batting department boasts the likes of aggressive opener, Trevon Griffith, wicketkeeper/batsman, Anthony Bramble and allrounders Steven Jacobs and Christopher Barnwell, along with Zaheer Mohamed and Rajiv Ivan.

The bowling consists of a mixture of pace and spinning options, featuring the out-of-favour pair of West Indies spinners, Permaul and Devendra Bishoo, along with fast bowlers Keon Joseph and Paul Wintz.

Senior National Coach Esuan Crandon was named Coach of the warm-up squad, while Alvin Johnson will oversee the team as Manager.

The GCB also released ticket prices for the ODI’s.
