Fruta pounds Pele 6-0 in U-13 tourney

Fruta Conquerors, compliments of a Simeon Hackett first-half brace, pummeled Pele FC by a 6-0 score line as action in the Fruta Conquerors U-13 Football Tournament continued at the Tucville Community Centre, ground yesterday.

Breaking the early deadlock through the nippy Orwin Glasgow in the third minute, Fruta Conquerors doubled their lead as Hackett opened his account with a strike to the lower left hand corner of the goal in the 25th minute.

Hackett completed his brace five minutes later, compliments of a well-placed right-footed effort to the lower left hand corner. Receiving a well-placed cross from the right side of the field, Hackett slotted home his right-footed, first-time strike unmarked in the six-yard area.

20130707tableFurther goals by Jeremy Garrett in the 20th and 58th minutes and Diarra Thomas in the 50th minute respectively would complete the lopsided encounter.

In the earlier encounter, Santos FC edged Fruta Conqueror’s ‘A’ by a 2-1 margin. Ryan Dowden opened the scoring for the winners with a 20th minute conversion. Fruta Conqueror’s ‘A’ levelled the proceedings with Gideon Dazzell etching his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 25th minute.

Santos found the go-ahead winner in the 60th minute through a Nazim Algernon penalty strike following an infringement in the foul area on the aforementioned player.
