Sri Lanka defeats Windies in rain-hit match

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad,  CMC – Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by 39 runs in their rain-hit fifth Celkon Mobile Cup ODI at Queens Park Oval today.

The match continued today, the reserve day, after being rained out on Sunday.

Replying to Sri Lanka’s 219 for 8 off 41 overs, and needing 230 under the Duckworth/ Lewis system, West Indies were restricted to 190 for 9 off 41 overs.

Scores: Sri Lanka 219 for 8 (41 overs) – Kumar Sangakara 90 not out (95 balls); Lahiry Thirimanne 23; Angelo Matthews 30; Kemar Roach 4/27, Jason Holder 2/50.

West Indies 190/ 9 off 41 overs – Darren Bravo 70, Lendl Simmons 67; Angelo Matthews 4/ 29, Shaminda Eranga 3/46, Lasith Malinga 2/42.
