Jonathan Christie hammered Jonathan Fagundes in straight sets on Tuesday in a men’s singles match of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) Open lawn tennis tournament at the company’s Recreational Club, Kaieteur Street, Bel-Air Park.
Christie defeated his name sake Fagundes 6-0, 6-1 margin to advance to the next round.
In another men’s singles encounter Leyland Leacock defeated Andre Erskine in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the next round while in the final men’s singles matchup, Gavin Lewis earned a walkover from Rudy Grant.
In the lone men’s doubles encounter Anthony Downes and Jason Andrews combined effectively to inflict a double bagel on the pair of Albert Madramootoo and Durai Vidyapuri winning 6-0, 6-0.
