AT CONAREE, Guyana’s batsmen, led by Akashay Homraj, dominated Day 1 against the Windwards and finished in a good position in their bid to get first innings points. Homraj’s even hundred came in 151 minutes, from 103 balls and included 11 fours and  three sixes. The number eight batsman breathed some life back into the Guyanese innings.

Up top, young batting sensation, Tagenarine Chanderpaul hit a quick half century. Chanderpaul smashed 11 fours in his knock of 66 to give his side a good start.

The middle of the Guyana innings was well held up by Brian Sattur, who made 46.

Shawn Pereira also batted well down the order, hitting 47, but his innings was much unlike the others, patiently coming off 132 balls. Guyana closed Day 1 in a commanding position on 334/9. The last wicket pair of Vishoal Narayan (0) and Steven Sankar (1) are both at the crease. (WICB website)
