GBTI Berbice road race

Flying Ace Cycle Club’s Elijah Bhajadder blitzed the field and carted off top honours in Sunday’s eighth annual Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) 50-mile road race in Berbice.

Bhajadder stopped the clock in two hours, 12 minutes and 31 seconds for the event which pedaled off from Corriverton, proceeded to Adventure and returned to the point of origin for the finish.

He led club mate, Ray Millington, Trojan Cycle Club’s, Brian Harris, Triston Kamal, defending champion, Dwight Holder and Neil Reece into the top six.

Millington, however, pocketed all of the sprint prizes that were up for grabs.

Brijadder was also the first junior to cross the finishing line with Kamal second. The only female to take part in the event was Christine Matherson while in the BMX category Allistair Griffith rode home ahead of Safraz Komal.

Officials of GBTI were on hand to begin the race and distribute prizes at its completion. The event was coordinated by Coach of the Flying Ace Cycle Club, Randolph Roberts.
